Alice and Jasper are two very rare creatures. They both developed a conscience, as we refer to it, with no outside guidance. Jasper belonged to another...family, a very different kind of family. He became depressed and he wandered on his own. Alice found him.

Jasper, along with his wife Alice, is one the newest members of the Cullen family clan. He poses as Rosalie's twin brother, adopting her surname of 'Hale'. A former monster, as he readily describes himself, he has yet to grow used to the lite diet of animal blood that the Cullens survive on to escape the notice of humans and live a (relatively) normal life.

So where does this leave him?

In his senior year at Forks High School, trying not to yearn for the blood of his peers and expose himself (and his family) as vampires. It's difficult, but with Alice and the rest of his family by his side, he has hope.

Physically Jasper looks to be about 20 years old, barely passing as a senior student, despite an actual age of 165. He stands at 6'3" and shares the same pale, marble-like features as others of his kind. His most prominent feature, however, is the crescent-shaped scars that mark up his body. However, these scars are normally only distinguishable by other vampires (or those with superhuman sight) and remain invisible to most humans unless observed in a stark, contrast lighting.

As a special ability that only some vampires develop when turned, he has the power to feel, as well as to influence and manipulate, the emotions of those around him. As described by Edward, he can "calm down a room of angry people or excite a lethargic crowd".
